My Personal Passion:

As long as I can remember, I have been in love with babies. Everywhere I went when I was younger I had to take along all my dolls. They were diapered (with real diapers), “potty trained,” and loved like no other. I dreaded the days when my Cabbage Patch dolls had to take a bath in the washing machine and all I could see were their little plastic heads bobbing back and forth. This nurturing quality has carried over into my professional life and I still love children just as much as I did when I was young.

I started my professional child care career in 2004 while working on my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Since then, I have worked for dozens of families and children of all ages. I’ve now found myself in the Washington, D. C. area after moving all the way from Austin, Texas. I have over 3,000 hours of  experience with newborns and a great understanding of the delicacies it takes to care for someone in their first few months of life. I have currently completed the Newborn Care Specialist Association’s 8 part course and approved 200 question test as part of the Newborn Care Specialist Certification requirements. Along with my 3,000+ hours, I am an Advanced Certified Newborn Care Specialist. With my experience and education, I take pride in providing families with everything they need in this next journey in their life.

Alongside newborn care, I also have co-founded and run a nonprofit organization that aids rural Ethiopian children. With books, school supplies and the funding of libraries, it is our hope that these children gain the ability to read and write so they can be come successful in their adult life. This organization grew out of a relationship I formed with a family with whom I nannied for 3 years. Their son, Davis, was adopted from Ethiopia and we were able to see first hand the lack of literary resources available to orphanages and schools. Since its creation we have distributed over 6,000 books and have spent countless hours in orphanages amongst hundreds of very needy infants. You can visit the site at: www.davismoonproject.org
