Where are you originally from and how did you get into the newborn care profession?
I am originally from western Howard County, Maryland. I have always had a passion for working with children and a goal to become a pediatrician. I landed an internship at Sinai Hospital in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and ever since I have continued my work with newborns.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received from a client?
One of my recent clients told me that she trusts me with her children more than anyone else. I felt proud to be able to bring her peace in a time where everything was changing.

Do you specialize in a particular area of newborn care?
From my time spent in the NICU, I have had extensive experience with premature babies. Our clients needs differ vastly, I focus on education and training that will contribute to knowledge that spans the spectrum of newborn care.

What do you enjoy about working with new families?
What I enjoy most about working with families is being able to provide them with a peace of mind. There are so many questions, emotions, and changes that are involved in bringing a new baby home. I love to see that transition go smoothly and watch as parents’ become pros at handling every new experience that their little one(s) introduces them to.

Let’s talk newborns: what is your favorite part about caring for newborns?
I love to watch them grow and be there to see some of their first smiles, giggles, and pouty faces. I like to see their personality develop.

If there was one thing you wish everyone knew about newborn care specialists, what would it be?
I wish everyone knew how much we truly care about the babies and the families that we encounter. This is a passion for us. We are hungry for knowledge on the most effective ways to help babies sleep, grow, and enjoy life. With this knowledge we want to assist parents in reaching the goals of feeling like “Super Dad” or “Super Mom”.

What is next for you? Are you preparing for a new certification or training event?
In February, I will be taking both a labor and postpartum doula certification training through ProDoula. I will also be starting the process to become a Certified Lactation Consultant. Aside from newborn care, I am down to only a few more semesters to complete my coursework to become a Physician Assistant.

What do you enjoy about being on the Hush Little Baby Team?
I get to work with newborns! I absolutely adore meeting so many sweet little faces and being a part of such a special time in their lives. I also enjoy knowing that I am a part of team of such talented, motivated, and knowledgeable women. It is empowering.

What do you enjoy outside of caring for newborns?
I am in the process of opening a daycare, which is extremely exciting for me. I am also a competitive horseback rider.
