Darby C.
Darby has quickly become one of our most sought after Newborn Care Specialists on the Hush Little Baby team, typically working with families of high profile. Darby has a unique way of combing her high level of care in a discreet manner. Darby is a dream in any situation and we are so fortunate to have her on the team.
I am originally from Tampa, Florida. My husband, Doug, is a retired US Army officer so we have moved around quite a bit including 14 years in Europe. We moved to this area from England in 2010.
“Being a Newborn Care Specialist is a dream job for me.”
I had been homeschooling for 20+ years when my youngest son graduated high school in 2014. I had no idea what was next for me, That is when I was introduced to Hush Little Baby. Every day I am excited all over again for this opportunity to love on and care for newborns and their families.
I love working with the babies. So precious, so individual, every single one. They have different needs and different likes right from the beginning. It’s a joy to get to know them and to care for them in big ways and small.
I consider it a real privilege to serve not only the babies but Mom and Dad as well. So often new moms are second guessing their abilities and instincts when really they are spot on. Being able to add an extra pair of hands to the seemingly overwhelming job of newborn care brings stress levels down for both mom and dad. A good night’s sleep is priceless to exhausted parents. When they sleep well at night, their days are again full of joy. What an honor to be able to come alongside a family, whether they need just a bit of help or need more,so that they can quickly and smoothly make the adjustments to the new routines and responsibilities a new baby brings..
2015 was a great year of learning for me. I took the Newborn Care Training Academy’s course early in the year, then followed that with Prodoulas postpartum doula training and finally birth doula training. I have learned so much, but certainly the best preparation for this job has been the parenting of my own 7 kids and a few foster children as well. I understand well the craziness of unbalanced hormones, the many decisions like breast or bottle feed, cloth or disposable diapers, schedule or on demand parenting etc,. I remember well the exhaustion and the desperate need for support. Having been through those seasons, I can relate and even anticipate the needs of new families as they find their way to their own brand of parenting.
I’m excited to be a part of the Hush Little Baby team. Such a wise group of women with great skills and hearts to serve new families. I’m looking forward to taking the Newborn Care Training Academy Advanced Sleep Training class. In the mean time, if I’m not serving a client you can find me hiking with my two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, or hanging out with a few of my 19 grandchildren.
